This is an unvoiced sound.
- Open your mouth a small amount
- Put your tongue between your teeth.
- Gently push air over your tongue and through your top teeth.
- Make sure no air can escape through your bottom teeth – or you make a different sound!
Inside the mouth
Your tongue tip goes between your teeth. The air is squeezed through a narrow gap and hisses.
Voiceless, with a puff of air. Hold your palm in front of your mouth and you will feel it.
